This year the WAH campaign is committed to supporting 12 projects by raising $143k which will impact 3.5k children. So far, we have raised $4.5k, a good start but we have a long way to go!
If you’ve previously volunteered with Asha, you already know the far reaching impact of the funds we raise. This week we are showcasing two of the key projects that will directly benefit from your funds – Pratirodh Sansthan and Guria Swayam Sevi Santhan.
Your donations towards these projects will fund salaries and build classrooms- mundane tasks but tasks that will change the lives of the children involved.
Pratirodh Sansthan (Chittorgarh, Rajasthan) works with girls from tribal backgrounds between the ages of 8-13 most of whom are married and have never been to school. The project provides helps these young girls by creating self-help groups, educating them about their rights and acting as a resource when their rights are violated. Read more about it here.
Guria Swayam Sevi Santhan (Shivdaspur, Uttar Pradesh) aims to impart vocational training and education to children at risk in Varanasi’s red light district. In its aim to end trafficking and forced prostitution of children, Guria (or Gudiya), provides a halfway house that helps in the rehabilitation and assimilation of children. Find out how its changing its community here.
When you donate, you will be taking a strong stand against the neglect of young girls and children who are left to fend for themselves before adulthood. Contribute today and make a difference.
