The Samiti's main objective is to develop self-reliant village communities by applying appropriate technologies in agro-forestry, land-husbandry & water conservation, housing, crafts, health, hygiene and nutrition.
Gramin Vikas Vigyan Samiti is an action group of Gandhian volunteers practising alternate rural reconstruction in the desert villages of Rajasthan (estb.1983). The Samiti's main objective is to develop self-reliant village communities by applying appropriate technologies in agro-forestry, land-husbandry & water conservation, housing, crafts, health, hygiene and nutrition.

Major achievements to date include numerous programs on water usage, improved crop & fruit cultivation, smoke-less stoves, low-cost houses and rural latrines, health programs, vaccinations, opium de-addiction, old-age care, child education, awareness building and youth development.
