The Saathi night-school supplements the education of 55 underprivileged children who attend municipal schools during the day. A few children attend only the night-school as they have other family-related responsibilities to tend to during the day. They range in age from 3 to 16.
The children are taught Gujarati, Hindi, English, and Sanskrit, History, Geography, Mathematics and Science.
They are also provided a nutritious meal everyday at the end of class and given 2 new pairs of clothes every year. Their health needs are also looked after.
Games, community prayers (non-denominational), poetry recitation, art classes and story-telling are also a part of the curriculum.
The school employs 4 paid teachers and one volunteer supervisor. The students are not charged any fees.
