Asha helped facilitate the collection and disbursement of funds for a one-year project, conducted with SEF, to help 25 community groups understand the technical and environmental issues involved in an ecosystem regeneration project. The ecosystem regeneration project is based, in part, on experiences gained from community managed water projects in Kundla Taluka and Sanosara where over 60 villages implemented rainwater harvesting and ground water recharging schemes. The ultimate goal of this project is to bring ecosystem regeneration to all talukas of Gujarat.
The Saurashtra Education Foundation (SEF) works towards science education in rural Gujarat, conducts anti-illiteracy and anti-superstition programs, and sponsors science fairs and science competitions. The scientific outreach work of SEF is also performed through community science centers, mobile science units, science kits, and a bi-monthly science "magazine" mailed to all Gujarati-medium schools in Gujarat.
