At Asha Chennai, we have always had projects based on geographical areas. Often times, we execute several programs that cut across all these projects. SPRINT is a one such program to capture these. It achieves two objectives - one, it helps planning and budgeting in a common way and two, it helps present a comprehensive view and proposal to prospective donors.
Asha Chennai is a chapter of ‘Asha for Education’ based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Asha for Education is a worldwide action group formed to catalyse socio-economic change in India through education of underprivileged children. ‘Asha’ means hope — the hope that we aim to bring into the lives of these children.
Asha Chennai took root in 2002 as a separate chapter of Asha. Asha Chennai has grown since then to include more than 15 highly committed core volunteers and another 20+ volunteers who help with contents, training etc. At Asha Chennai, we execute the projects ourselves. We are actively executing several projects which together support more than thousands of children, 500+ schools, run libraries, run 13 RTCs and provide scholarships for over 100 students. We have been raising funds for these from individual donations, donations from corporations and organizations as well as from other Asha chapters. Asha Chennai registered a separate charitable trust Asha South India Trust in 2022 to ease the operations.
