Most of the Kondh villages in Vishakapatnam Agency (in G. Madugula mandal) do not have any government schools. There is a tribal residential school (Ashram School) in paderu, where the children from the ages 7 or 8 go. Till then they do not have any kind of education in the villages.

The play schools are meant to fill that gap. The focus is to create a platform where children can sing, dance and play, at the same time learn some basics to get them prepared for the ashram schools.
The schools are started by PS Ajay Kumar, who has been working with the tribals in the region for land rights and other developmental issues for the tribals.
To facilitate human beings to learn together the art of living together in perfect harmony with each other in order to liberate themselves and others. To create a sense of compassion and concern among the human beings towards their fellow human beings and nature.
Laya works with tribal communities to educate and empower them.
