Before Project Potential, there was SEEKHO* an educational organization in rural Kishanganj District, Bihar founded on the premise that local people could be recruited to help solve local challenges, which we found was true. Because many people expressed a desire to improve educational outcomes, we focused on building a culture of education and learning by offering age specific programs.
However, as we saw many of our hardworking and talented students fall through the cracks, we realized that the challenges that villages face are interconnected, and therefore, you cannot improve education without also improving economic conditions or health. Our local staff recognized this point and as a result, began mobilizing community members and using existing resources and institutions to improve economic conditions, living standards, and health.
Recognizing these two points led us to found Project Potential, where we select, train, and support local Village Visionaries to use existing resources to connect existing resources to achieve community goals. That’s ultimately what we’re after – a “we can” mindset, where communities recognize and use their strengths to build stronger associations and to reach their full potential.
There are currently 5 local offices for Project Potential
1. POST – BISHANPUR DISTRICT- KISHANGANJ, Bihar, 855101
