Asha has been the strength behind Adhaardhila school since we started our school to fight against child marriage and targeting girls. Since 2007 we have worked in close partnership which till data Asha is the sole funder of his school. – Suman Choudhary Project Director, Pratirodh Sansthan
It is both heartening and motivating to see just how much representatives from Asha know about our work. They truly understand what we do and how we achieve it. Their funding of the design of audio content to supplement home-learning for under-privileged young adults learning English has been a great success. Our learners love that they can listen to and practice at home what they learned in class that day – something which they had not previously been able to do – Ian McBride Director Communications, Etasha Society
Asha for Education has supported progressively more villages every year since 2011. Their support and commitment to preschool education in rural India has been very encouraging. They ask tough questions which help us think through some of our issues and it’s been a fulfilling partnership. – Lily Paul, Coordinator, HLC
Asha Purdue Chapter is a major donor for the KHEL Patna Center of Diksha Foundation and Alok Charitable trust. Volunteers from the Asha team are also involved with the center and they are exploring the usage of ICT tools to enhance the quality of education. We have established a computer lab with the help of Asha – access to computer and other ICT tools have broadened the world view of the children. Asha Purdue Chapter has supported the operational expenses of the center for the year 2013 and plans to support the expenses for 2014 through the work-an-hour campaign.Diksha KHEL
Asha for Education has been funding Chehak Trust since 2002, a time when Sahyog was merely an idea. It has stood by us in our most challenging times, such as when the community was being relocated, and the floods of July 2005. It has always appreciated our choice to build Sahyog organically, rooted in the community’s life, even at the cost of scale. A unique characteristic of Sahyog has been the constant evolution of our programs. We phased out some of our programs even as we launched new ones in response to the community’s needs. Asha for Education has been with us though this journey, engaging with us as friends, who share our vision and commitment. – Neha Madhiwalla, Sahyog Trusteeand a Social Researcher
Asha’s support for the construction of Non Formal Education and vocational training centres at Varanasi red light area have been very critical in Guria’s fight against human trafficking and forced prostitution. These centres were the back bone in evolving our strategy to end child prostitution, minimize second generation prostitution and prevent trafficking & retrafficking. These two centres have minimized the dependence of the women and children on traffickers – brothel keepers – pimps – police organized criminal nexus. Firstly it has catered to the basic need of schooling, tuition, mainstreaming into formal schools, extra-curricular activities, experiment with art therapy, music, meditation, photography, mime, knowing child rights and other life skills. – Ajeet Singh Founder/Director, Guriya Swyam Sevi Sansthan
