Dear Asha Volunteers, This is the third week for 15th Annual Work-An-Hour Campaign and we have crossed $18K with 150 donors. However, if you have been closely following donations this week, we are trailing, both in our target and with reference to donations in week 1. The only way to beat this is to get more people to visit our website. On an average, for every 40 people we reach out to, we get one donor. That’s how hard it is to find donors. With that in mind, we should really be doing more! Can you pick one Indian/regional association/Alumni List or any other organization to who you will send an email requesting support? Would you please do this by Saturday, August 4th? We would like you to reply to wah@ashanet.org with the name of the organization/association to who you sent an email. Considering we have 50 active chapters, we would have reached out to at least 50 groups/ organizations if not more. Quick Links: As in previous years, WAH team has been on this task since April 2012. We can’t let this go down. For ease of sharing, below is content, if you would like to use, as you connect with the association/organization. If your chapter has no project in WAH, but your efforts help us get donations from Indian/regional associations/organizations, your chapter will receive an equivalent amount from Asha General Funds. Please don’t restrict yourself from sharing the WAH link. Thanks for your help! Content for email as you connect with organizations/other groups: I am sharing with you a link to Asha for Education’s ongoing annual, worldwide, online fundraising campaign-‘Work an Hour (www.ashanet.org/workanhour ; WAH)’. WAH requests individuals to symbolically donate an hour’s worth of their salary towards education of underprivileged children in India. India being home to 12 million child laborers, we drive home a strong message that it takes only a little, if each of us were to contribute, to bring about a socioeconomic change in India. For 15 years now, WAH has raised 1.25 million USD in support of the cause. WAH launched on July 15th and will end on September 30th, 2012. We have a fundraising goal of $150,000 to impact 4300 children from 13 projects. Some orphaned and abandoned on streets, some disabled, while others in slums, they all live on less than $1 per day. Our goal is visibility to 4300 children, and so I am reaching out to you. If any of our projects give folks in your organization a feeling of being “close to home”, it might help us seek donors. If your organization would like to support our efforts by sponsoring a classroom of children in any project, please let me know. I will be happy to share information with you. I look forward to hearing from you. Warm Regards |
