CHIP Mumbai is proposing the funding for their blended-learning programs running in Oshiwara BMC school campus. This school has four schools in the campus in ‘K’ West educational ward. In the 4 schools, (30 students/class)*(4 sections)*(4 schools) = ~500 children will be reached and ~40 number of digital learning classes per week will be taken on ‘K’ West Education Ward, Oshiwara BMC School premises, Jogeshwari (W). This project will help CHIP Mumbai set up a new digital learning lab for their Digital Classroom Project at Oshiwara BMC School.
CHIP’s main goal is to provide children in BMC schools with strong foundational skills in literacy and numeracy. We seek to achieve educational excellence for children across government schools in Mumbai. In addition to this we are also building capacities of young women from the surrounding communities of the school by providing them an employment as a co- teacher in the BMC School.
CHIP was founded in 1997 by a group of educationists and doctors in Kolkata. The group was formed to fulfill the dream of a better life for children in this country. Focusing on health and education, CHIP Kolkata began with a small child and parent counseling programme and has since expanded to include a full sponsored school, a medical and educational centre called CHIP House with regular health camps, educational interventions in 14 schools, vocational training and more reaching out to over 1 lakh beneficiaries each year.
CHIP Mumbai was launched on the 5th of February 2004 in partnership with the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) school system. The chapter was founded by Dr. SunitaBanerji, Ms. Poonam Jaju and Ms. KunikaLall in an effort to work with these schools that cater to some of the most disadvantaged groups in Mumbai. Starting from a small school in Jogeshwari (West), CHIP Mumbai currently works across 10 BMC schools in the K- West ward and H-East ward to implement its initiatives
