We have brought all children in the Project Building under one roof from 9th May though the completion of the block we are constructing is not yet complete. The work is going on side by side with our education, nutrition and health programme. We are taking care of the children in three shifts : morning, afternoon and evening. We are thinking of introducing computer training and adult education for ladies in the project building. Space is a great problem but the satisfaction is that we are not to beg and borrow space for others and children are studying under one roof. The pressure of enrollment is very high though it proves that the villagers have become more conscious of their children's education and health care. Expecting, the enrollment may cross 500 this year. We are trying to collect small donations for equipping the classrooms with minimum furniture and fixtures. Few donors have donated 60 desks to accommodate 180 kids in one shift. There is no water source for catering 500 children but the District Magistrate Midnapore, Mr. M.V.Rao IAS has very kindly promised to bore a deep tube well within the campus of Kalyanpith before rainy season. This will cost near about Rs.2 lakhs which he will take care of. Shouri, could you please collect and send $2,500.00 which I immediately need for repaying the market loan of $3,500.00 for the construction done so far. From my side I am trying my best to collect $1000.00 so that I am free from the burden. I am not thinking of entering into further construction of the block which was in the plan until and unless I can foresee the funds needed for the purpose. Your effort will save my crisis at this moment. I have few pertinent points before you plan your budget for 2003 for Child Welfare Project of SKB. Request, enhance (A) your contribution for child welfare project from $3,500.00 to $4,500.00 (B) your contribution from $1000.00 to $1500.00 for medical coverage (C) as discussed with you in person on your visit to this place to take care of more lady students by allotting more fund as permissible from $1500.00 Request allot extra funds for girl child scheme so that at least five girl child can be taken care of from class IV for 7 years by contributing $800.00 per year for 5 years and $850.00 annually for 2 years.
