Oct 28th, 2003

As part of the efforts to help Seva Chakkara get a permanent home for the children we organized an Asha Run on Oct 26th in Central Park.

Here is a summary of the Asha Run 2003:

Even the NY weather smiled as we had a fantastic event yesterday.

The air was filled with energy as Tuku helped all the runners stretch and warm up before the run.

Ahalya, Subbu, Srini, Pritha and Sujay split the responsibility of taking care of the runners stuff, keeping the finish line stocked with Gatorade and making sure the runners didn't loose their way. So without a care in our lives we ran! Somil finished fastest in 27 mins, but everyone gave an inspired sprint and finished in style.

Ofcourse, as would be expected, once we were done we sat around and ate pav-bhaji and sweets and listened to Shailen's experience in the marathon and about the marathon program.

We then thanked all the runners with cards made with the artwork of the children of the orphanage and we bid each other farewell wondering if we should run the marathon next year.

The event has so far raised $2923 through donations by 99 people.
