Welcome to my page! I’m running the Chicago Marathon on October 9th, 2011 to raise money for Asha for Education!
Asha for Education is a grassroots, volunteer organization that promotes socio-economic change in India through hundreds of education projects for under-privileged children all over the country.
Team Asha-Chicago supports 8 projects currently, and the nearly 60 of us running the marathon this year have pledged our fundraising to these projects. One example is the Aralu-Belaku Home, in the town of Bidar, Karnataka. This is a residential center for orhpans and street kids in Bidar who are being nurtured, nourished and motivated to join mainstream schooling. Currently, Asha supports 20 children who live in the residential home. The support includes their food, health care, daily living expenses, cost of their education, field trips, etc. The children study in nearby government schools.
