I will be running the Rock n Roll Half Marathon this year on August 14th with Team Asha. This will be my first race after Smaran was born so I am excited to get back to running. Asha is a non profit organization that supports basic education of underprivileged children in India. I have volunteered for Asha in the past but this year I wanted to do a little more by helping fundraise for their current education projects in India. One of the projects that is very dear to my heart is Asmita. Asmita is an organization that runs a school for slow learners, kids with partial mental disabilities and dyslexic kids. Having known someone who is very close to me with learning issues I understand the importance of giving proper care at an early stage of their lives. Asha Chicago supports children who cannot afford to pay the training and transportation costs and also supports teachers who work with children with special needs.
