Dare to reach out your hand into the darkness, to pull another hand into the light.

-Norman B. Rice

Life exemplifies dreams. Dreams propel ambition. And hope. Having been fortunate enough to realize some of my own dreams, I can easily empathize why they are considered the stepping stone to one’s future. Education cements this foundation which is why this cause is so close to my heart.

Running has transformed my life in the most positive way. Losing 37 lbs in six months revitalized my life. Running a full marathon for something other than my own well being is very important to me because that would really make it a lot more meaningful. Today I have the opportunity to have it transform lives and dreams into a promising future. In this journey, I wish to include each one of you, a friend to humanity, to help make the positive socio-economic changes we talk about through education. Education is a basic right. It has the immense potential of bringing out a better person, a better citizen, and a country tomorrow which can claw her way out of poverty and crime and become truly democratic. This is why I strongly believe that everyone should avail of it, especially the underprivileged. The need to prioritize education for children who can ill afford it is fundamental to a dream of a brighter tomorrow.

Asha strives with every individual like you and me to fulfill this need. Asha for Education is a zero-overhead, 100% volunteer driven organization, which means that after paying the 1-2% operational costs that include publicity, fees to local authorities, etc., ALL the rest of the funds we raise each year, reach our schools and vocational centers. We are so proud of being able to do that.  Asha for Education is rated as the #1 charity in the field of International Relief & Development by Charity Navigator, America’s premier independent evaluator of over 5,300 charities.

It is incredible how far a dollar can go in transforming someone’s life. My goal for this run is to raise $5650. I realize that you may have your own favorite charity but I humbly request you to open your heart to this noble cause and help me reach my goal with your pledge. I am counting on you.

The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.
