Every Drop Counts

Every drop of sweat counts. Likewise, every dollar, rupee or any other currency you want to use to donate for this cause, counts. Asha for Education exists for what I like to call “gloducation” – global education for the children of India, who do not have access to the bare necessities – no books, no instruments (or broken ones from decades ago), no books on tape, no access to libraries, no access to great teachers, no access to infrastructure, great access to child labor and human rights abuse…you get the drift.

That is why every drop of sweat from running for these deprived souls, counts. And counts big. And I’m going to make SURE that every drop quenches the thirst for gloducation for these guys – no more watching from the sidelines, for they will ACT from our support, and the world will watch them GROW and GLOW, with gloducation!

Thank you in advance for your drops of currencies and sweat. Donate now, because EVERY DROP COUNTS!

Left, right, left , Wright

So, the feet, they doth carry me away from my humble abode. And past many a not-so-humble-abode that Frank Lloyd built. What a great way to put my (W)right foot forward for a just cause.
And here I am using my lungs to their fullest capacity, feeling that lactic acid makes its presence hard to refute and voila! I turn a corner into what could well be a scene straight out of Enid Blyton’s Enchanted Forest. Or it could be Hogwarts! Or that mystical place in the Lord of the Rings! Turning that bend has transported me into a place where the imagination runs wild, unlike its owner!
All verdant and magical, I run under a canopy of trees including an oak, a weeping willow and what I have decided, in my own little world of botany, should be labelled a giant Sycamore. Also weeping like the willow, are my quads- tech. jargon for quadriceps- so deliberately being ignored that they have fully occupied all conscious thought!
Since the “turn” of events, the mind’s been a-distracted and the lactic acid, just a mere sensation now, is trying to gnaw its way back to my stream of awareness. Fortunately for me, the rhythm of running has taken over, set by the tone of this magical street I now see through the eyes of a runner. A street I oft cross on my drives leaving home. But a world that can’t be seen when I’m trying to avoid the forced marriage of my fender with the pink-haired girl and her little tea-cup sized pooch; whilst peering from behind my steering wheel, halted patiently at the stop sign waiting for them to scamper off with a little more ‘mission’ and a little less ’stroll’.
Aah! Frank LLoyd, my running self silently exclaims, such a legacy of visual splendour you leave behind for one with reluctant muscles, but a fierce intent to “just do it”.

National Start! Walking Day -Wear your sneakers to work!

Each year, the first Wednesday in April is designated National Start! Walking Day – a day when Americans nationwide come together to put on their sneakers as a show of support against the No. 1 killer of Americans today – heart disease.

Heart disease is this country’s No.1 killer. But by exercising for as little as 30 minutes each day you can reduce your risk. That’s what the Start! Movement is all about.

It’s almost here! Join us Wednesday, April 7 for National Start! Walking Day. Wear your sneakers to work!
