Golden Boy of Sundervan

Pratapaditya Boorkait assisted his father in farming their small piece of land, while
pursuing his studies. Today having overcome this struggle, Pratap is an Engineer. The small village
lad from Nalgaradham of Sundervan has come a long way. He works, as an Electronics and
Telecommunication Engineer with Tata Consultancy Services, in Bengaluru.

However, the journey from Sundervan to Bengaluru was not easy. This intelligent boy, from a very
poor family, had to work hard on the fields with his father. Despite all hardships in 2004, Pratap graduated from Vaikuntha Vidhyapeeth, a local school with 82% marks.

Further he took admission in Science stream of Devnagarmokhda Vidyapeeth located 180 KM from his village and passed the higher secondary exam with 85% marks. He subsequently studied Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Hugli Engineering Technology college.

Pratap was studying under severe financial crisis, his school teachers fully supported him. Especially Mr. Shakti Sadhan Mandal and Mr. Prabhat Kumar Mandal.

Pratap gratefully states that without their wholehearted support and cooperation it would not have
been possible from him to progress in his life.

During his engineering studies he received help from voluntary organization called Mukti. Pratap is
indebted and ever grateful for the help and support he received from Mukti.

Today, Pratap is engaged in organizational work from Bengaluru. He finalizes the list of deserving
students and makes recommendations to Mukti for awarding appropriate scholarships . He also has
requested TCS to provide computers for his village school.

Pratap a poor lad from a Bengal village remembers his humble beginnings & his school. Nor the fact
that, there are many more intelligent poor students like him need support and help.

Mukti is a WAH 2012 Project.
